After completing an MBA at the University of Kentucky in 1976, Steve served for 15 years as an industrial real estate broker in Louisville, Kentucky at the Harry K. Moore Co. - now operating as JLL. He founded the Stephen C. Gault Co. in May, 1991 to provide industrial real estate brokerage and development services to the Louisville Metro business community.
A boutique firm of 6 employees, Stephen C. Gault Co. clients include major corporations such as UPS, Eaton, LabCorp, Expeditors International, WESCO, Atlas Copco and Sherwin-Williams as well as numerous Louisville-based firms like Premier Packaging, WireCrafters and Algood Food Company.
His land development activities include 3 Louisville-area business parks, the largest of which is the 600-acre Eastpoint Business Center located off I-265 in Louisville’s northeast corridor.
A longtime member of SIOR (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors), Steve was the inaugural recipient of the sought-after March of Dimes Commercial Real Estate Achievement (REACH) Award “given annually to an individual whose commercial real estate activities and community service have significantly enhanced the Kentuckiana area.”
He is a trustee of his alma mater, The College of Wooster (BA 1973), and currently serves as a board member of The Morton Center (a Louisville outpatient treatment center for chemically dependent individuals and their families); the Louisville Free Public Library Foundation; the University of Louisville Real Estate Foundation; the University of Louisville President’s Council; Impetus For a Better Louisville (a leadership group started by Humana founder David A. Jones, Sr.) and Greater Louisville, Inc. (GLI), the Louisville Area Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to his civic and charitable activities, Steve mentors many individuals recovering from substance abuse.
