Gary Wimmer is the owner of Ford Land Company, a private commercial real estate development firm located in Menlo Park, California. Ford Land Company developed, managed, and invested in a portfolio of Bay Area commercial properties, including a significant portfolio of office buildings located at the center of Silicon Valley’s venture capital and private equity enclave known as Sand Hill Road.
Since 1994, Mr. Wimmer has overseen all activities related to the development, investment, and operation of its commercial portfolio of buildings. Additionally, Mr. Wimmer, as a consultant, developed office buildings for the account of Stanford University and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. He has also served on peer audit committees for Stanford University’s Department of Land and Buildings. In January 2019, just prior to the announcement of COVID, Mr. Wimmer had the fortuitous opportunity to navigate the successful sale of his company’s entire portfolio of office properties.
In the 11 years prior to 1994, Mr. Wimmer held executive positions with two private Bay Area commercial real estate development firms, Orchard Properties and the Sares Regis Group, overseeing site acquisition, entitlement, development, construction, and management operations. Mr. Wimmer has actively served on the boards of several non-profit groups, including the Boys and Girls Club, the Filoli Estate, Stanford University Athletic Board, and ABC2 (Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure Foundation).
Raised in Boise, Idaho, Mr. Wimmer attended Stanford University, where he obtained a B.S. in Industrial Systems and Organizational Design. He was also recruited by and played linebacker on Stanford’s football team during his 4 undergraduate years. Gary and his wife, Alexandra, reside in Los Altos Hills, California.
