Lisa Burkhardt
Travel & Event Consultant
Lisa was a member of PathNorth from 2020 until June of 2024, and then came out of retirement when she joined the staff as a travel and event consultant.
Formerly, Lisa was a professional Realtor for Sotheby’s International Realty based out of La Jolla, CA. There she served as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the United Nations Chapter of San Diego, which was founded by Eleanor Roosevelt. She also traveled with the US Fund for UNICEF to Africa, as she is passionate about the plight of women and children around the globe.
Mid-career, Lisa dabbled in entrepreneurship with both a start-up (Sell Me Global!) and as owner/operator of a purebred Arabian horse breeding program.
Early in her career, Lisa worked in finance as both a Lending Officer and a Senior Product Manager in Corporate Cash Management, where she developed new high-value investment products, the success of which landed her on Nightline. It was in banking that Lisa first realized the necessity for women to come together to break the glass ceiling and commit to equality and equity for all people.
Lisa was invited to work with two of the former sub-committees to the American Committees on Foreign Relations (ACFR). She has served as a Chapter Co-Chair and Education Co-Chair of Arizona YPO Gold. Lisa’s strong commitment to integrity is the primary reason behind the successes of the strategic partnerships she enjoys developing. She is extremely well connected, and an astute relationship builder in politics, finance, business, and philanthropy around the globe.
Lisa has traveled to over 35 countries, and enjoys skiing, hiking, and fishing. Her two daughters, Hayden and Hadley, are her pride and joy.
What is something about you that would surprise others?
I may come off like an extrovert but I am actually quite introverted.
What is your favorite PathNorth memory?
I really enjoyed the Croisi Barge trip through the Burgundy wine country in France. It was my first PathNorth trip and the venue was intimate, the people lovely and kind, and the wine, divine. It was where I met my new, “additional family,” so to speak. And then there was also Doug in the Cat in the Hat pajamas….priceless.
What is your top bucket list travel experience?
Looking forward I would like to bring my children on a volunteer/educational trip again. Formerly, we went with several other families and built a “Homes for Hope” house in Tijuana, Mexico. The friendly competition among the three teams of five families each, as to which team could build the best house, coupled with all of us crying as we handed over the house keys to each receiving family, created an environment where we received so much more than we gave. It had a profound impact on all of the children in attendance as well as the adults. It must be why Jimmy Carter has lived to his blessed old age…
