Stephen’s career spans private capital investment, operating, investment banking, board governance and public accounting roles. He invests in and advises start-up, emerging growth, middle-market and SPAC sponsor companies focused on consumer, healthcare, and fintech sectors, with a particular focus on companies optimizing personal care, human performance and consumer health solutions.
He serves on the boards of OneSpaWorld Holdings Limited (Nasdaq: OSW), Massage Envy Holdings and two consumer technology start-ups. His prior board roles include publicly traded Haymaker Acquisition Corp. II (Arko Corp., Nasdaq: ARKO), Haymaker Acquisition Corp. III (Biote Medical, Nasdaq: BTMD), private equity backed Atkins Nutritionals (Simply Good Food Company, Nasdaq: SMPL), Strivectin Holdings, and several early stage emerging growth private companies.
His private capital investment experience also includes positions as senior advisor to private equity firms Roark Capital Group and Catterton Partners; Managing Director of Prospect Capital; and President of Cameron Capital, leading the capitalization, acquisitions, operations and sale of a consumer services, specialty retail, distribution, franchising and direct marketing business.
His prior investment banking roles include head of consumer investment banking of RBC Capital Markets; and managing director of Prudential Securities, Wheat First Securities and L.F. Rothschild & Co. His transaction experience includes sell-side and buy-side M&A, strategic investments, recapitalizations, public equity and debt offerings, and private equity and debt placements. His business model experience includes franchising, specialty retail, e-commerce, direct response marketing, consumer and business services, manufacturing, distribution, and licensing.
Stephen earned BS in Commerce and MBA degrees from the University of Virginia; holds FINRA Series 63 and 79 investment banking registrations; a member of Business Executives for National Security; and is and has been a leader and active contributor to organizations advancing under-represented and under-resourced communities, corporate governance and social responsibility leadership, and national security initiatives.
